Posted by bleatham from TS 2003 Tundra test truck 3/1/04 I am the lucky Tundra owner who recieved a free Unichip from Jack for letting him use my truck for PnP harness development and for stock 2003 engine mapping. My truck is a 2003 Limited 4x4 access cab w/TRD offroad pkg. Sorry it has taken me so long to inform you all about how the truck is running, I have been abnormally busy lately. I have put 2k miles on the truck since the Unichip was installed. The biggest difference between stock and now is that the truck is noticably faster. I have no way of quantifying this, but when I put the pedal down it accelerates from 2000 to 5000 rpm's faster than before. If forced to guess I would say it dropped .5s off of 0-60 time, again a total guess. 1500 of the miles I put on the truck were from a round trip drive to Idaho. I drove through many mountain passes and cruised on a lot of straight flats on that trip. I live at ~200ft elevation and drove it to 5000ft with nothing more than the expected power loss for such an elevation change, the truck ran flawlessly the whole time. I have not kept track of fuel consumption but it makes sense that mpg is better when cruising because the engine is working less hard to hold the speed. Overall I think my mileage has gone down because I am constantly stomping on the gas. I like the Unichip, it makes my truck run like it should have from the factory. I cannot tell that the unichip is installed in my truck other than it is faster, ie no check engine lights, the cruise control works, the engine revs smoothly and sounds good. Jack is going to remap my truck as I do modifications, which for now look like a RAPS and a Spintech. This will allow Jack to be able to ship custom tuned units to people with similar mods. This is my second Tundra, the first was a 2000 SR5 4x4. I traded it in on my current truck due to all the familiar problems; brakes, exhaust manifolds etc. I have been reading this site for about 2.5 years. From what I have learned the Unichip seems like a good way of getting the extra performance we have been wanting. To me it seems like a necessity if you have been moding your intake and exhaust so that you can maximize the gains from them. I want to thank you guys that have been working with Jack on getting the Unichip for our Tundras, especially Verndog and SCDTRD. Jack has been great for me to deal with and I have confidence that he will treat you all well in your dealings with him. If any of you have specific questions let me know and I will help where I can. Thanks, -B
